We have already detailed why an AquAid Mains Fed Water Dispenser may be right for your requirements. In this article, we detail how Bottled Water Coolers and Dispensers may be the right fit for your organisation in place of a mainsfed water dispenser.
Bottled Water Coolers are ideal where portable water or a mains water supply is unavailable. Depending on the dispenser, the bottles can hold two, three or five gallons of water. AquAid provide drinking water solutions for organisations, businesses, worksites, medical, health and educational facilities, large, medium and small.
AquAid’s spring and bottled at source water is drawn from three separate locations, each source of water containing varying quantities of minerals.
The installation an AquAid bottlefed water cooler is simple and straightforward, requiring only a single plug socket. Once installed, there will be a constant supply of refreshing chilled or cool water for you, your staff, customers and visitors.
With branches across the United Kingdom, AquAid is able to provide a fast and effective delivery system.
Visit the website to view the range of Bottle-Fed Water Coolers, installed by WHA accredited engineers and backed by our premium first-class service, and contact us today to discuss the best options tailored to your specific needs.

Deciding on a water cooler for your organisation’s drinking water requirements may seem a daunting task. Should you opt for a Bottle-Fed or Mains-Fed dispenser? What capacity? Do you need a constant supply of chilled, cool or hot water? Or both chilled and hot?
At AquAid, we are able to alleviate such concerns easily. By utilising our twenty-three years of operational experience and drawing on the expertise from our twenty-three localised branches we are able to provide our customers with the very best solution in which of our range of high quality water dispensers will best meet your drinking water requirements.
A few examples:
Bottled Water Coolers are ideal where portable water or a mains water supply is unavailable. Depending on the dispenser, the bottles can hold two, three or five gallons of water.
Mains Fed Water Coolers provide an unlimited amount of fresh and cooled water coupled with a fixed price. The average bottled water customer could save up to 70% by switching to one of these mains-fed cool water machines.
We have also introduced a range of Touch Free Water Coolers, available in both Bottle-Fed and Mains-Fed watercoolers and boilers. Demand for these non-contact water dispensers has increased significantly, as more organisations create work bubbles thereby ensuring safe, convenient access to a constant supply of refreshing drinking water.
Our water cooler experts will also guide you on the perfect fit, irrespective of the size and location of your organisation. For all your drinking water requirements throughout the year, speak to us at AquAid Water Coolers.

You may ask what the connection is, rightly so. It stems from family advice passed down through the generations – if you wanted your puds to rise and stay light and crispy during roasting in piping hot oil, ice-cold water was needed for the batter mixture. According to my Mum’s Nan, the best Yorkshire puds resulted from snapping off icicles and adding those to the batter.
It would seem that with the current weather we’re experiencing harvesting icicles for baking is a doddle. Now that we have that best baking tip sorted out, next we look at if it’s safe to use icicles or snow for your drinking water.
Generally speaking, it is safe to eat clean ice and snow during the winter in the wild outdoors. The same is not always true in urban areas where pollutants may be present. In the outdoors, pay attention to where you gather icicles. Gathering icicles from an evergreen tree in the countryside is one thing; snapping icicles from a roof edge another. If you hold an icicle up to the light and it looks clear and clean, it’s usually safe. However, there are other toxic reasons not to crunch on a snowball or lick an icicle.
Eating snow and icicles is tempting, especially when working up a sweat outside. However, you’ll want to consider where you find your seemingly delicious snow or ice. For instance, icicles formed on older homes may contain lead or other metals that are unsafe for consumption.
As we continue with self-isolation, working remotely or at a distance in the office or you if you have set up a home office, you may well ask if the chilled water from your AquAid water cooler is suitable for your food batters. It may be, however, although the cold water dispensed from your water cooler may be the perfect temperature, we would suggest that you reserve your water cooler water strictly for drinking. Especially if you are in a shared office. Whereas some of your colleagues (or family) may be delighted with your resourcefulness using chilled water from your water cooler in your baking efforts, others may not be.
Remember, for all your chilled, cool and hot water dispensers, whether Bottle-Fed or Mains-Fed; Hot Water Boilers; Hot and Cold Instant Taps as well as our range of Touch-Free Water Dispensers, speak to us at AquAid.
We remain operational and continue to take all precautions and necessary steps to reduce any risk to both staff and customers. Read our Covid-19 risk assessment.

Seeing where we are, we thought it might be prudent and practical to update the guidelines around what is considered good etiquette when replenishing your water bottle or water glass at your office water cooler.
Queuing instead of gathering. Unlike previously where we referred to confusing queues, that’s unlikely to happen currently. Therefore, less queue confusion and more distance queuing is in order. The positive here is it’s unlikely that you’ll need to fight your way past other chatters seeking hydration, allowing you more time and easier access to your cool water or hot water for your lemon water, tea, coffee or a newcomer, the bubble tea (more on this in another instalment).
Distance dispensing. We’re sure that every employer, as with all employees, is making sure that their office or workspace is routinely sanitised and cleansed, to ensure you a safe working environment, with you doing your bit, of course. At AquAid, each of our range of top quality water dispensers is designed in keeping with the highest levels of hygiene at the forefront. This includes the recent introduction of a range of Touch-Free hot and cold water dispensers as well as a non-touch, easy fit attachment for our entire range of hot water boilers.
Sanitise, sanitise, sanitise. As with distance dispensing, maintaining good sanitisation habits protects both you and your colleagues. Again, integral to our business, we understand the importance of sanitisation, which is why we sanitise all Bottled water coolers every three months and all Mainsfed water dispensers every six months.
But, what about your water cooler supplier? How are they helping to ensure a constant, safe supply of drinking water? Rest assured that here at AquAid, we continue to take all precautions and necessary steps to reduce any risk to both staff and customers.
We’re sure, with these updated water cooler etiquettes, we can continue to band together (at a respectful distance, mind) to keep the water cooler the friendliest spot in the office, wherever that may be.

Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulation 1992, the employer has a responsibility to provide an adequate supply of drinking water. However, the employer must ensure that the facilities provided are done so safely and are maintained correctly to avoid any risk to the employees.
The location of your water cooler is the first step to ensuring the safety of your staff. The water cooler needs to be seen to encourage drinking water yet it should not impede the flow of movement in and around the office. Power cables need to be neatly tucked away and any spare water bottles should be stored safely to avoid any mishaps.
A qualified technician should also carry out the installation of your machine.
The WHA (Water Dispenser & Hydration Association) is an association that was formed:
‘To ensure the attainment of the highest standards of quality, safety, hygiene and ethical conduct in the water dispenser industry through unimpeachable products and services supplied by Members to their Customers, in full recognition of the Industry’s environmental responsibilities, whilst promoting hydration benefits.’
The WHA only use WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) approved training courses. It is highly recommended that when considering your water dispenser supplier you choose one that is a member of the WHA. In this way, you can be assured that the minimum required standards are being met.
By using a WHA member you can also be assured that, the materials used for the installation of your water coolers are suitable for contact with drinking water and that the technician installing your dispenser has WHA accredited training.
Should you opt for a Mainsfed Water Cooler: a water cooler that is connected directly to your water mains – there are further installation guidelines that will be adhered to by the technician.
- The machine must be connected to a fresh water supply and not to a water storage tank.
- The water cooler should also be located within a close proximity to both the power socket and the mains water supply.
- The WHA guidelines advise that the location of the machine needs to be within five metres of the mains supply to ensure optimal hygiene is taking place as well as getting the best water pressure levels available.
As with all equipment, it is not enough to just ensure that the water dispenser has been installed safely and correctly. Maintenance, servicing and cleaning play a vital role in ensuring you are getting the optimal value out of any piece of equipment and the water cooler is no different.
Due to the nature of their water delivery, Bottled Water Coolers need to be sanitised every three months whilst Mains Fed Water Coolers should be serviced and their filters cleaned every six months.
Keep a formal record of the services carried out by your supplier, ensure the guidelines are being met and good quality filters are being used. However, do not simply rely on your visit from your supplier to keep your machine in its best condition. By carrying out simple yet effective maintenance you can easily contribute to ensuring your water cooler continues to offer high quality drinking water. Empty the drip tray regularly and keep all external parts of the water cooler clean. A dirty water cooler will not encourage staff to drink.
Having a water cooler on site is indispensable to any organisation and it plays a vital role in the well-being of your office staff. To be assured that you are getting the best out of your water dispenser, begin by ensuring it offers no risk to your employees.
